Julia Allsop has established herself as an Outstanding Opera singer with an exciting vocal repertoire performed across Australia, Asia and various Countries in Europe and UK. Julia performs an extensive range of Opera, Musical theatre, Jazz, Cabaret and Contemporary popular repertoire.
Julia Studied a Bachelor of Music (Opera Performance) at the QLD Conservatorium, Griffith University under a Scholarship Program through the “Young Conservatorium of Music” before studying Nursing. In her final year of university studies she performed in collaboration with Opera QLD the principle role of (Suor Angelica) in the Opera with the same name. Other Conservatorium Opera roles Julia performed were in ‘Flight’, ‘Tannhauser’ and ‘Faust’. Julia sang at the ‘2000 Olympics’ torch bearer ceremony the ‘National Anthem’ and for the Australian Baseball league and Rugby League opening Games.
Julia has performed a variety professional Opera, Cabaret and Musical theatre productions from the age of 9 years til present beginning her career in 1990 in Les Misérables and performing roles and music from The Phantom of the Opera, Westside Story, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Porgy and Bess, Cats, The Sound of Music, Aladdin, Lion King and Guys and Dolls, and Rent. Julia Performed a Solo show in the ‘Queensland Cabaret Festival’ in 2001-2002. Julia joined the (The Ten Soprano’s) Sydney based opera group in 2017 til now touring the (Mamma Mia Show) and (Opera Classics Show) across Australia including the ‘Sydney Opera house’.
Julia was a Soprano Soloist with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) at Hammer Hall performing an excerpt from “Mahler Symphony No.2” for the Melbourne Festival’s (Voyage of time) production. Julia was a Victorian Opera Chorus member from 2018 -2020 and a Melbourne Opera chorus member for nearly 10 years performing in various Opera’s from HMS Pinafore, Otello, The flying Dutchman, Norma, Tristan and Isolde, Der Rosenkavalier, The Ring Cycle, Maria Stuarda, Macbeth, Lucia Di Lammermoor, Wagner’s The Ring Cycle, Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, LA Boheme, Sour Angelica, Puccini’s Italian Gala & Bel Canto Concerts and Annual Christmas Concerts with Silvia Paladino.
Julia was a recipient of a (Green Room award) for ‘Australia’s Best Opera Chorus’ in 2024 for Sour Angelica. In 2019 Julia was a Melbourne Opera soloist with other Opera Australia performers for the (Bush Fire Fundraiser) event.
Julia has sung Opera at various (White Night Events) held at Melbourne’s Town Hall, and Bendigo and Geelong. Julia has sung Opera shows with ‘Citi Opera’s’ including the Australian/ Russian opera premiere of “Kachshey The Immortal” at Melbourne Recital Centre, and ‘BK Opera’s’ productions of Pirates of Penzance, The Abduction of Seraglio, HMS Pinafore, and Offenbach’s Pierrette et Jacquot at (Melbourne Fringe Festival). Julia was a soloist in ‘Cordelia’s Potted Opera’s events (Opera on the Farm) and performed the principle role (Effie Deans’) in the 2025 Savoy Opera Australian ‘Scottish Opera’ premiere (Jeanie Deans) and is currently learning the principle role of (Adina) in ‘Elixir of love’.
Julia performed with ‘Gilbert & Sullivan’ Opera Victoria’ as understudy/principle role of (Adele) in “Die Fledermaus” and (Hebe) in “HMS Pinafore”.
In 2018 Julia was a backing vocalist with Tenor ‘Mark Vincent’ on his album “Tribute to Mario Lanza,” which topped (No.1) in “Australian Aria Classical Album Charts” and Performed with Mark Vincent at the “Olivia Newton John Breast Cancer Fundraiser event”.
In 2017 & 2018 Julia performed in “Opera under the stars” events as part of ‘Northern Rivers Festival in NSW’. In 2017 Julia performed with the (Royal Melbourne Philharmonic) choir “Verdi’s Messa da Requiem” at the Ian Hammer Hall and “Mozart’s Requiem” and “Elgar’s For the Fallen” and other works for “Requiem for the Fallen” at St Paul’s Cathedral and as a guest artist for Annual RMP Melbourne Cup dinners. Julia has performed with the Rotary Club’s “Italian concert events” in Mavis’s Kitchen in Northern NSW.
Julia currently loves singing and playing Piano at various wedding ceremonies in Victoria and interstate Julia hopes you enjoy her Lyric Soprano voice which projects abundant strength, rich vocal warmth, rounded colour and an exciting balance of tone through her register.
