Tenor Michael Lapiña launched his professional career in 1988, captivating audiences in musicals and touring extensively across Australia and Asia. Since 2008, he has taken on some of the most sought-after tenor roles with Australia’s leading opera houses. His international career has included acclaimed solo performances in Canada, Singapore, China, and New Zealand, alongside his powerful interpretations of Verdi’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah and Samson on major concert, corporate, chamber, and oratorio stages.
A passionate advocate for community, Michael has directed numerous fundraising concerts for Rotary International and the Archdiocese of Melbourne. He balances his illustrious opera career with his role as a Music Tutor at Haileybury College, where he shares his deep musical knowledge and love of performance with the next generation.
Michael remains deeply committed to Rotary. He has led a vocational exchange to the Philippines, served as Artistic Director of Rotary District Conferences, and consulted for the Next Generation Service Exchange. As Past District Governor of Rotary International District 9800, he facilitated the participation of several Richard Divall Emerging Artists in the Next Generation Service Exchange, sending them to the prestigious Bayreuth Wagner Festival.
